Naming Celebrations

Children – what a precious gift to love and cherish! Naming a child is a very special ceremony to celebrate the birth of your child. It is an occasion to publicly welcome and formally name your child into your world of family and friends.

It is also an opportunity to reflect on your cultural and value systems. You may decide to appoint significant role models to be god parents to your child who may play a key role in your child’s development. Where possible, I encourage you to include other networks of family or friends in the actual ceremony to create a bond of support and care with your child.

I usually advise parents to have the formality of the ceremony before commencing the partying! I will present a Naming Certificate at the end of the ceremony. Allow me to work with you in creating a significant naming celebration that expresses hope, love and all the wonderful opportunities that lie ahead for your child.
